I absolutely love Woodhaven my husband's father has owned property out there for 30 years and I have to say hands down it is so great I love the fact that it's a gated community I love the fact that it's family-oriented a lot of things to do with your family great to get away great to spend time out there it's beautiful
WOW... one of the best experiences of being out of the city in my life! Had no cell phone coverage (T-Mobile) but I didn't care! I was able to recharge with my daughter and mother, and enjoy our company with other family members. The place has enough things to do that you forget that you didn't watch any television or got on social media.
Estate office to show you around. 90 minutes from Chicago. Public safety protect the property here year round. 2 pools, a beach 9 fishing ponds, a laundry mat , a general store and a new bait shop to open soon.
Your experience will vary on where your site is. It is a private campground so you will need to either own a lot, or be a guest of someone who is. Also have public spots for members of "Camping Across America." Good common facilities. On-site hardware store that is stocked with majority of construction needs. On-site market and grocery store for necessities. Single restaurant option within grounds. One pub style restaurant located right outside main gate. Also have a gas station on site. Take note that hours for facilities is limited during the week and off-season periods. During summer season lots of events and entertainment options for both kids and adults are featured. Two pools, assortment of sport fields/courts, and a beach at an artificial lake allow for all sorts of fun. Fishing on site is permitted.

My mother has a place at Woodhaven and I bring her there almost every week. She loves coming up there for a change of scenery and to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. She is in a wheelchair so I take her on long walks on the trails, we go to the pool where she can put her feet in the kids pool and have a few snacks from the snack bar. She loves the peace and quiet and the long rides in the country. We take advantage of the facilities while we are there and we like to take her into Peru or Dixon/Sterling. My dad bought her the place she has now before he passed away and she has all the comforts of home. Asking her she will say Life is Good!!!
